Today, I baked 3 batches of cookies at a nearby Hospice home as a volunteer. I baked these cookies in the hospice kitchen for the nurses during their demanding shifts. The batches included chocolate chip oatmeal cookies and oatmeal cookies with peanut butter centers. Because I could not freeze the peanut butter, I adapted the recipe using the "thumb strategy." I placed a small well into each dough ball with my thumb, added the peanut butter, and sealed the dough before baking. Baking in the hospice kitchen also made the experience more personal, because the smell of fresh cookies filled the space, while nurses could enjoy them shortly after they came out of the oven.
